Several Covid infected Chinese nationals put lives of locals at risk in Bangladesh town

In what has raised an alarm that 85 Chinese nationals, working at a dual fuel combined cycle power plant being built inside the Khulna Power Plant in Bangladesh, have been tested Covid-19 positive, according to reports in the local media including widely circulated Bangla daily The Daily Praitidin.

The Chinese nationals are allegedly not adhering to home quarantine and attending work at the plant putting lives of locals at risk, the media reports claimed.
As many as 185 Chinese nationals work in the Khulna power plant and over 500 workers regularly attend work and now there is a risk of Covid spread among several hundreds.
The local authorities are probing the incident.
Meanwhile, China has sent 500,000 doses of the vaccine as a gift to Bangladesh and the government is expected to begin administering the shots next week.
