Seven killed in explosion at coal mine in China

BEIJING: Seven workers were killed and three others injured after a gas explosion in a coal mine in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The mine in Fulu Town, Leshan City, was undergoing a safety overhaul when the blast occurred yesterday, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.
One person is still missing while the three injured workers have been sent to hospital, as rescue work continues.
Six people, including the mine's owner, have been detained by the police.
Nine people were killed and 12 others injured last week by the release of toxic gas following a blast in a coal mine in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
