A Saudi Aramco helicopter crashed in Ras Tanura, killing 14 people, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing state news agency. However, the reason for the crash is still unknown and authorities are investigating the incident.

"Investigations are under way, with the participation of relevant authorities, to determine the causes of the helicopter crash," the state news agency added.

In 2023, the company spun off its aviation unit into a separate subsidiary called Mukamalah Aviation, a move designed to give its aviation operations more autonomy, agility, and commercial potential. A year later, Aramco rebranded it as Aloula Aviation, a wholly owned Aramco subsidiary.

Aramco began aviation operations in 1934 with a single aircraft used for aerial mapping.

Aloula now operates a diverse fleet of over 60 aircraft, and supports Aramco’s offshore, medevac, and logistics operations across the Kingdom.

Saudi Aramco, majorly known for its oil business, resumed crude loadings at its Ras Tanura terminal in the Gulf on Friday, the world's biggest oil port, after a nearly four-month halt.
