Saudi Arabia sounds alarm in 3 cities after Houthi attack claims

Multiple loud explosions were heard in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, shortly after the country's Civil Defense issued an early-warning alert over a potential threat, Reuters reported, citing a witness.

The Saudi Civil Defense later announced that the danger had passed, even as tensions continued amid hostilities involving the kingdom and Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi movement.

A projectile struck and damaged a tower in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) on Sunday, according to one witness and three people briefed on the matter.

Saudi authorities did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the incident.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said it had intercepted missiles over Riyadh that were launched by the Houthis.
