OpenAI CEO Sam Altman just got married. Who is Oliver Mulherin, his spouse?

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has tied the knot with his partner, Oliver Mulherin. The 38-year-old tech influencer and Mulherin, an Australian software engineer, exchanged vows surrounded by palm trees and a small group of guests at an undisclosed tropical beach location, as seen from photos circulating on social media. Altman later confirmed the news to NBC. Last year, Altman brought Mulherin with him to a White House dinner in honor of PM Narendra Modi where other tech leaders like Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook also were invited as guests.

New York Times had earlier reported that Altman and Oliver Mulherin share a house on Russian Hill in the heart of San Francisco. But as Friday arrives, they move to a ranch in Napa, California. Mulherin, Altman's spouse, shares his time between San Francisco and a ranch in Napa, California.

Altman's leadership at OpenAI has been marked by the company's innovation in artificial intelligence, particularly with ChatGPT, a groundbreaking chatbot. Recently, OpenAI introduced the GPT Store, likened to an app store for AI applications.



Despite a brief ousting from OpenAI's board in November, Altman returned as CEO after a tumultuous boardroom struggle, steering the Microsoft-backed company to become one of the world's leading startups.

Who is Oliver Mulherin?

Software engineer Mulherin is a Australian native who graduated from the University of Melbourne, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mulherin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in computer science from University of Melbourne (2014 - 2016).

Mulherin had attended John Monash Science School, from 2011 - 2013, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He has worked in Meta, Broadwing, SPARK Neuro and IOTA Foundation as a software developer, says his LinkedIn profile.

Mulherin maintains a low profile deespite being married to one of the most influential person of Silicon Valley. His Instagram account has less than 600 followers.

One of the couple's first public appearances was in June last year when the two were invited to a state dinner at the White House that President Biden hosted for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sal Altman once told New York Magazine that he and Oliver Mulherin, an Australian programmer, want to have kids soon. Altman, the oldest of four siblings, said that he likes big families, having grown up in a middle-class Jewish family.

OpenAI recently introduced the GPT Store, a marketplace for personalized artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Users can explore and create GPTs (Generative Pre-trained Transformers) tailored for specific tasks. Initially available to paid ChatGPT users, the GPT Store will later allow creators to monetize their customized AIs. OpenAI had initially announced the GPT Store in November, but the launch was delayed for improvements based on user feedback.
