At a busy intersection, with people all around, mask sellers can be seen quite literally everywhere. But in Pakistan, many have dropped their guards against the pandemic and its only the rich who can afford to buy the masks.

Safety a luxury
The country has reported more than 500,000 cases since the pandemic began and about 11,000 deaths, although many fear the number is much higher. Good fortune or not, officials believe taking the situation for granted could lead to worsening condition, especially as it is becoming more and more visible which class of the population can really afford to be vigilant.

Covid hoax?
About 57% of Pakistan's population believe that the coronavirus pandemic has been exaggerated and about 42% believe that it is just a foreign conspiracy. Even the Covid restrictions and protocols in place by the government are not often followed.
