Sotheby's in New York will have a unique auction this month: Of the fossilized skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex relative that roamed the earth about 76 million years ago.

Skeleton of Gorgosaurus
The skeleton is that of a Gorgosaurus. That was an apex carnivore that lived in what is now the western United States and Canada during the late Cretaceous Period. 10 million years before Tyrannosaurus rex.

The specimen being sold was discovered in 2018 in the Judith River Formation near Montana. It measures nearly 3 meters tall and 6.7 meters long.
