Pope Leo XIV visits plane cockpit en route to Metz; opens up on church abuse, AI risks and more

Pope Leo on Monday (September 28) was seen seated in the cockpit of the Air France plane, being shown the controls by the pilot, en route to Metz on the fourth and final day of his France trip. Leo has been undertaking a whirlwind four-day visit to France, where local Church leaders are hoping he will help repair the Church's standing after a 2021 report found that some 330,000 French children had been abused by Catholic clergy and lay leaders over seven decades. The pope added that it was the Church's responsibility to invite leaders to dialogue and find ways to resolve problems without engaging in wars "that no longer make any sense."
