Polish deputy prime minister and foreign minister Radosław Sikorski visited Pakistan in October and focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence, education and counterterrorism, according to reports in Pakistani media.
During the visit, Poland and Pakistan pledged to transform their relationship into, what they called, a "comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership". They also discussed deeper cooperation in mining and energy sectors, building on the success of engagements such as the Polish Oil and Gas Company exploring natural gas in Pakistan, it has been learnt.
"Pakistan-Poland ties, rooted in WWII-era Polish refugee shelters in Karachi and Quetta, as well as Poland's foundational role in the Pakistan Air Force, have evolved into a robust partnership marked by over $1 billion in annual bilateral trade," said a report in Pak's leading English daily The Dawn, published during Sikorski's trip.
Pakistan has agreed to enhance collaboration with Poland across multiple fields, including trade, energy, infrastructure, science & technology and education.
