UK PM Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney admitted that he made a 'serious error of judgement' in backing Peter Mandelson for a top diplomatic role. Speaking at a UK parliamentary hearing, McSweeney said there was limited discussion before the election and confirmed multiple candidates were under consideration. He further added that he does not believe the prime minister would have chosen Mandelson if Kamala Harris had been elected president.
