Pakistan's deputy PM and foreign minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is planning a Bangladesh trip as both sides seek to expand ties since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

Ministerial visits from Pakistan to Bangladesh since 2008 have been rare as ties were lukewarm under the Hasina regime.

On Sunday, foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain and Dar held a meeting in Jeddah. As per a press release from the Pakistan high commission in Dhaka, the meeting was held "in a cordial environment". The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 'Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation'. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the upward trajectory of ties and agreed to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, according to the press release.
