ISLAMABAD: Pakistan today deplored the CIA torture post 9/11 detailed in a US Senate report, saying it is violation of international laws.

"Pakistan deplores the Senate report on CIA torture of detainees. It is violation of international laws. Human rights laws must be respected," Foreign Office (FO) spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said.

"Although there are no specific nationalities mentioned, however, we have noted that the US government has assured that this would not occur again."

The report has created an international uproar after it spotlighted the abuse of detainees by the US secret agency.

The US Senate said in a report that CIA torture of Al-Qaeda suspects was far more brutal than acknowledged and failed to produce useful intelligence.

The report has also said that top al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, arrested and held in Pakistan post 9/11, were jointed interrogated by Pakistani officials and CIA agents before being handed over to the US intelligence agency.
