Pakistan court declares MQM chief Altaf Hussain an absconder

KARACHI: Altaf Hussain, the chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, was today declared an absconder by an anti-terrorism court here in connection with a case in which he is accused of threatening Pakistan Rangers in Sindh.

The court passed the orders after accepting a chargesheet in the case filed by Sindh police.

In the chargesheet submitted to the court, the police demanded that Hussain to be declared an absconder in a case pertaining to using threatening language against Pakistan Rangers Sindh.

Investigation Officer Mohammad Naeem submitted the chargesheet which was accepted by the presiding judge during the hearing.

Naeem stated in court that Altaf could not be produced in court as he is not present in Pakistan.

The court then directed the Investigation Officer to continue his investigation and submit a report in this regard during the next hearing of the case.

Colonel Tahir of Pakistan Rangers had filed a FIR against Altaf Hussain in June and in July FIRs were registered in different parts of the country against the MQM chief over remarks made by him against the chief of Rangers in Sindh and the paramilitary force in recent speeches.
