How, when and where to watch Hunter's Moon rise

If you plan to observe the October's full Hunter Moon through a telescope, a Moon filter can help reduce its brightness and make viewing more comfortable. Higher magnification can also make the Moon appear less glaring by showing a smaller portion of its surface at once. The Moon may appear unusually large near the horizon because of the Moon illusion, an optical effect that makes it seem bigger when viewed near the ground than when it is high overhead. It may also glow yellow or orange during the first hour after moonrise. This happens because the Moon’s light travels through a longer stretch of Earth’s atmosphere near the horizon, scattering shorter blue wavelengths and allowing more reddish and yellowish light to reach our eyes
