President Donald Trump's pick to fill a short-term opening at the Federal Reserve Board, told reporters Thursday he has not talked with anyone at the White House about a possible nomination for a longer-term Fed post, after having told Senators it would take such a nomination for him to resign from, rather than just take a leave of absence from, his current job as White House economic advisor.

Asked by a Reuters reporter he first only raised his eyebrows and wouldn't answer. "You've not?" the reporter asked again. "No."
