The incident, which occurred during a period of Shi'ite Muslim observance, has claimed a total of nine lives, including three attackers, making it a rare breach of security in the typically stable Middle Eastern country.

An Indian national was among the victims of a tragic shooting near a Shia mosque in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The Indian embassy in Oman confirmed the death in a social media update on Tuesday, following an incident that claimed six lives.



The Indian embassy in Muscat expressed condolences and offered support to the families affected by the tragedy. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack and have not yet disclosed details about the perpetrators.

The attack, identified as a "terrorist" act by Pakistani officials, targeted the Ali bin Abi Talib mosque, also known as Imam Ali mosque, a significant Shi'ite place of worship in Oman's Sunni-majority community. Among the casualties were four Pakistani nationals, a policeman, and several others injured, including security personnel and civilians of various nationalities.
