The US New Hampshire State House (Assembly) in a significant move has passed a resolution urging the White House, Congress and the State Department to take urgent action against the violence and human rights abuses occurring under the interim government in Bangladesh.

On February 13, coinciding with PM Narendra Modi's US visit, a resolution (HR 11) was passed in the New Hampshire State Parliament, urging the White House, Congress, and the State Department to take urgent action against the violence and human rights abuses occurring under the interim government in Bangladesh, it has been learnt.

The resolution was introduced by Abul B. Khan, a Republican representative of Hampshire and co-sponsored by Doug Thomas and Jona Wheeler. This was the first such resolution by any US legislative body on the current Bangladesh situation.

The resolution urged the Trump administration to take urgent action against the violence particularly the targeting of religious minorities and political figures aligned with the ruling Awami League. It highlights incidents of killings, arrests, and the destruction of homes and places of worship, as well as widespread attacks on religious minorities such as Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians.

The resolution condemns actions incited by Islamic fundamentalists, including the destruction of religious institutions, the demolition of houses associated with Bangladesh's founder, and attacks on cultural figures and journalists. It further describes violence against police officers and the killing of hundreds of people involved with the ruling government. The resolution calls for investigations into these abuses and for the United States to hold the Bangladesh interim government accountable.
