President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office to the new ministers.
Former MD of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, will head the Ministry of Energy, Urban Development and Physical Infrastructure. Om Prakash Aryal will head the Ministry of Law and Home Affairs, and Rameshwor Khanal will take charge of the Ministry of Finance.
Ghising is credited with playing a crucial role in ending chronic power cuts during his tenure as executive director of the NEA. He was removed from the post in March by the Oli administration after a prolonged dispute.
Aryal was a legal advisor to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Aryal. A noted lawyer who played a key role in the recent Gen-Z negotiations, Aryal had reportedly wished to remain outside the cabinet but later agreed to join. He was actively involved in talks with President Paudel, Prime Minister Karki, Gen-Z representatives, and party leaders following last week's deadly protests. Khanal, a former finance secretary, earlier headed a High-Level Economic Reform Recommendation Commission, and had submitted a 447-page reform report to the KP Sharma Oli government.
With the expansion, the Cabinet, has four members now. Karki continues to oversee the remaining ministerial portfolios.
