ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today left for Oslo to attend a conference on education and separately hold bilateral talks with Norwegian leadership to deepen relations.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said that Sharif was undertaking the three-day visit at the invitation of Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg to participate in the Oslo Summit on Education for Development on July 7.

"This is first official visit by a Pakistani leader to Norway in over a decade. During this visit, the Prime Minister will address the Education Summit and interact with several world leaders," it said.

Sharif would also hold delegation level talks with his Norwegian counterpart and meet Crown Prince Haakon Magnus.

These meetings would provide him an opportunity to discuss bilateral as well as global and regional issues with the Norwegian leadership.

The Foreign Office said this visit will help in strengthening the existing bilateral ties between Pakistan and Norway.
