The junta recently arrested two Pakistani nationals for illegally entering Myanmar. It is being suspected that the arrested nationals entered the country to work with Rohingya terrorists to spread extremism, ET has learnt.
Following the arrest, the Pakistan embassy in Myanmar swung into action to seek the release of the two nationals, further intensifying suspicion on Pakistan's activities in Myanmar. Pakistani officials approached Myanmar authorities to quash the case against the two perpetrators in a Myanmar court and sought their early deportation, ET has further learnt.
There is strong evidence that Aqa Mul Mujahideen (AMM) dominated by Rohingyas emerged from Harkat-ul-Jihad Islami Arakan (HUJI-A), a Pakistan-based extremist outfit involved in espousing the Rohingya cause in Myanmar. The HUJI-A is headed by Abdus Qadoos Burmi, a Pakistani national of Rohingya origin, closely associated with LeT chief Hafiz Saeed, who provided militant and explosive training for radicalised Rohingya cadres, sources told ET.
