Suzuki said that the US has promised to work on financial stability even as the global monetary tightening continues to fight inflation while Japan remains on the monetary easing mode.
Leading nations have pledged unwavering support to the cause of Ukraine and agreed to closely monitor Russia's actions to ensure that sanctions are not circumvented, said Shunichi Suzuki, Finance Minister, Japan, which hosts the G-7 meeting later this year.

"Sanctions against Russia are important,'' Suzuki told reporters during the G-20 meeting. It is resolved "to closely monitor the situation and stop efforts to circumvent or evade sanctions.''

Countries led by the US are tightening the supervision of the effects of their sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, while there have been suspected dilutions, too, of the curbs.

Suzuki said that the US has promised to work on financial stability even as the global monetary tightening continues to fight inflation while Japan remains on the monetary easing mode.

Bank of Japan governor Haruhiko Kuroda reaffirmed that the country is out of the deflation era and it would continue to keep the monetary policy easy even if others are tightening.
