A mild 4.6-magnitude tremor today hit Nepal's western Bajura district, triggering panic among people who rushed out of their homes in open areas.

KATHMANDU: A mild 4.6-magnitude tremor today hit Nepal's western Bajura district, triggering panic among people who rushed out of their homes in open areas.

The fresh aftershock was recorded in Bajura, 700 kms west of Kathmandu, at 9.31 AM today, according to the National Seismological Centre.

Earlier yesterday, two aftershocks measuring more than 4 magnitude on the Richter scale were recorded in the country.

A 4.4-magnitude tremor was recorded at 9.14 PM with epicenter at Sindhupalchowk district and another 4.3-magnitude tremor was recorded at 10.48 AM with epicenter at Dolakha district.

A total of 346 aftershocks with 4 or more magnitude have been recorded after two earthquakes hit the country in April and May, country's worst temblors in decades which claimed nearly 9,000 lives and caused widespread devastation.
