Families are advised to monitor updates before leaving home to ensure they have the latest information about their schools.

National Weather Service issues Dense Fog Advisory

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for parts of Ohio’s Miami Valley for Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The advisory was in effect until 10 a.m. EDT.

According to the NWS, visibility could drop to one-quarter mile or less in dense fog, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions.

The agency advised motorists to slow down, use their headlights and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead of them.

In a separate advisory concerning northeastern Indiana, the NWS warned that dense fog could spread westward into parts of Huntington County during the morning, causing rapid changes in visibility.

“Motorists should be prepared for rapid changes in visibility as this fog spreads west,” the advisory said.

The fog conditions have prompted precautionary measures across the region, with school districts adjusting their schedules to help protect students and staff.
