Maryland School Shooting: 15-year-old student shot by classmate during bathroom altercation at Joppatowne High
Maryland School Shooting: A 15-year-old boy, Warren Curtis Grant, died after a shooting in a bathroom at Joppatowne High School in Maryland. The incident occurred during a dispute between two students. The suspect, a 16-year-old student, fled but ...

Sheriff Jeff Gahler detailed the incident at a news conference, stating, "The shooting took place in a first-floor men's bathroom. After the initial shooting, the suspect left the bathroom [and] left the school." The victim received immediate medical attention from school nurses and was airlifted to a trauma center in serious condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, a recent addition to the school, managed to leave the scene but was captured within minutes. The weapon used in the shooting has not yet been recovered. Sheriff Gahler noted, "We are not allowed to talk to the suspect," but reassured the community, "We have sufficient information that he will be charged in association with the shooting without the need to be interviewed."
Gahler emphasized, "This was an isolated incident, not an active shooter." Over 100 officers responded to the school, and a reunification center for parents and students was set up at a nearby church.
In a subsequent news conference, Gahler announced the tragic news of Grant's death. "The family was just notified within the last half hour at the hospital," he said.
Harford County Public Schools released a statement acknowledging the loss and offered condolences. It read, "Keep Warren’s family, friends, and the students and staff at JOHS in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time."
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as the community mourns the loss of the young student.
