Who won the Wednesday night's $847 million Powerball jackpot? The answer is a single ticket sold in New Jersey won the $847 million Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, November 4. The cash option for the Nov. 4 jackpot was $363.1 million.

The latest jackpot win comes less than three months after a ticket in Illinois won a $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot on Aug. 12. Together, the back-to-back jackpots rank as the eighth- and ninth-largest prizes in Powerball history.

"Back-to-back jackpot runs resulting in prizes of this magnitude are a testament to the excitement Powerball generates," Stephen Durrell, chair of the Powerball Product Group and executive director of the Kansas Lottery, told Fox News.


"We're thrilled to celebrate another life-changing win and congratulate the lucky ticket holder," Durrell added.

How much amount would the winner receive?

The winner can choose to receive the $847 million prize in 30 payments over 29 years, with each payment increasing every year. Alternatively, they can take a one-time lump-sum payment of $363.1 million. Both prize options are before taxes.

Powerball has not identified the winner or disclosed where in New Jersey the ticket was sold. New Jersey law allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.

Additionally, Powerball announced that four other tickets matched all five white balls to win secondary prizes.

Lottery powerball winning numbers

The winner numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53, and 56, with a red Powerball of 21, according to Cincinnati. The Power Play was 2X. There was a jackpot winner in New Jersey for the Nov. 4 drawing. There was no $1 million Match 5 winner. There was no Match 5 plus Power Play $2 million prize winner.

The next drawing is on Saturday, Nov. 7. The jackpot for the next drawing is an estimated $20 million with a cash value of $8.6 million. Powerball drawings take place at 11 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
