London's Heathrow Airport's Terminal 4 was closed and evacuated on Monday as emergency services personnel responded to a possible hazardous materials incident.

The London Fire Brigade told Reuters that firefighters are responding to a 'possible hazardous materials incident' at Heathrow Airport. The rescue team also informed that crew has been deployed to carry out an assessment of the scene, and Terminal 4 has been evacuated as a precaution.

"Terminal 4 check-in has been closed and evacuated while emergency services respond to an incident," the airport authorities said in a social media post.

Urging passengers to refrain from travelling to Terminal 4, the authorities said that colleagues are supporting passengers on site.

"We will provide further information as soon as we can, all other terminals are operating as normal," the post mentioned.
