Democrats in the Texas House left the state on Sunday to try to block Republicans from moving forward with the newly drawn congressional map. A House panel on Saturday had advanced the map, designed to flip some Democratic seats to favour Republican candidates, and a full chamber vote could have been held as early as Monday. But the Democrats’ absence is expected to prevent the House from reaching the necessary quorum for a vote.
