King Charles in Canada: The real reason why the Crown is visiting America’s Northern Neighbour

King Charles III is set to visit Canada on the 27th of May, a month after Mark Carney was elected Prime Minister of Canada. Carney, also the Governor of Bank of England in 2013, invited the King himself instead of his representative, Governor General Mary Simons to give a speech from the Throne.Canada's House of Commons and Senate cannot conduct any public business before the Speech from the Throne is made. The last time the throne speech was read by then monarch Queen Elizabeth II in 1977, the first time being in 1957.
