In a surprising turn during Tuesday's debate, Vice President Kamala Harris revealed that she owns a handgun for personal safety. During the debate, Harris addressed Republican accusations with the statement: “This business about taking everyone's guns away — Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.” She also recalled her personal reasons for owning a gun, saying in 2019, “I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do — for personal safety. I was a career prosecutor.”
