Judge halts Trump’s massive federal worker layoffs amid government shutdown
A federal judge in California has temporarily halted US President Donald Trump’s plan to lay off thousands of federal workers. The ruling comes during the third week of a partial government shutdown, leaving Washington gridlocked and federal employees at risk. US District Judge Susan Illston said the layoffs appeared politically motivated and possibly unlawful under federal law.
