Trump said on Wednesday the US "knew nothing about this particular attack" and that Israel would not strike the gas field again unless Iran attacked Qatar.

The Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they were not surprised by Trump's comments and described the situation as similar to earlier strikes on Iranian fuel depots, when Washington publicly distanced itself.
The White House and the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not respond to requests for comment.
Israel has not publicly claimed responsibility.
Pentagon Seeks $200 B for Iran War
The Pentagon is seeking about $200 billion in additional funding for the Iran war, a massive request likely to face scrutiny in Congress, which must approve any new spending.

The proposal has been sent to the White House, according to a senior administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations. Asked about the figure on Thursday, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth did not confirm the amount, saying it could change. "It takes money to kill bad guys," Hegseth said, adding that the administration would work with Congress "to ensure that we're properly funded."
