Alberta Premier Danielle Smith was asked about reports of a referendum talk for the province to leave Canada. Smith has been making a case for energy tariffs to the US media, met US President Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago, and has been accused of not taking a ‘Team Canada’ approach. While she said she or her party would not lead the vote, a citizen-led referendum can still make it happen. The Premier wrote to Quebec Premier François Legault last month about asserting their provincial sovereignty.
