Iranian state media shows government supporters receiving defence training inside mosques
Iranian state television showed men and women taking part in defence training in mosques in several cities, as part of what it described as public readiness to defend the country. The report, broadcast on Saturday (May 16), showed gatherings in mosques in Ahvaz, Kerman, Bijar, Shiraz and Zahedan, with participants including families and teenagers. Some were shown handling weapons and taking part in group drills.The news report added women, men, youths and teenagers received support and defense-readiness training. During the training, volunteers were introduced to various light weapons, how they operate, and how to assemble and disassemble them, according to state television.
