The warning comes after Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, following earlier attacks on its own energy infrastructure. According to Iranian state television, the strikes were carried out shortly after air raids targeted oil facilities on Lavan Island.
"Missile and drone attacks on the Emirates and Kuwait have taken place a few hours after the targeting of Lavan island oil facilities in Iran," Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.
State media also cited the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, which described the strike on the facility as deliberate, saying it “was subjected to a cowardly attack.”
The reported strike on the Lavan oil refinery occurred at around 10 am local time, marking a sharp escalation involving critical energy infrastructure.
The developments have drawn concern from Kuwait, which has called for an immediate halt to hostilities. In an official statement, Kuwait’s foreign ministry welcomed the ceasefire but urged restraint. "The need for the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies... to immediately cease all hostilities."
