Ukrainian FM calls India's proposal "most comprehensive", among four for truce with Russia
Ukraine is evaluating four international proposals aimed at bringing an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha describing India's proposal as "the most comprehensive" and saying New Delhi has for the first time signalled its willingness to play a role in the peace process.

Speaking at a press briefing, Sybiha said Kyiv currently has four proposals under consideration, including initiatives involving India, Turkiye, Egypt and the United States, according to RBC-Ukraine.

"We have four proposals. The most comprehensive is India's proposal. For the first time, India has signalled its willingness to play a role," Sybiha stated.

The development marks a potentially expanded role for New Delhi in efforts to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, with India having repeatedly called for dialogue and diplomacy while maintaining relations with both Moscow and Kyiv.

Alongside the Indian proposal, Turkiye and Egypt have proposed a grain and agricultural truce in the Black Sea, according to RBC-Ukraine. Such an arrangement would be particularly significant for Egypt, which relies on Ukraine for nearly a third of its grain supplies.

The United States, meanwhile, has proposed an energy truce, an issue that was previously discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump.

Sybiha indicated that Ukraine remains open to both an energy truce and a Black Sea agricultural truce. Kyiv is also considering the possibility of an unconditional ceasefire along the line of contact, according to the report.

The comments from Kyiv come as Russian President Vladimir Putin separately praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict, saying the Indian leader had repeatedly raised the issue with him.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of those world leaders who, despite our very good and even friendly relations, personal good relations, constantly raises the question and asks the question about putting an end to the conflict in Ukraine," Putin said, addressing the crowd.

Putin said Modi had shown an active interest in finding a solution acceptable to the parties involved.

"He has an avid interest and very good ideas aimed at finding mutually acceptable solutions. In that sense, naturally, the Prime Minister takes a neutral position but with an interest in the end of the conflict. I think it's my duty to say that directly. And we are thankful to the Prime Minister for his ideas," Putin said.

"We are thankful for his desire to put an end to this conflict through peaceful means and as soon as possible," he added.

India has maintained that dialogue and diplomacy should be used to resolve the conflict. Modi reiterated that position during an interview with Japanese news outlet The Yomiuri Shimbun during his visit to Japan in August.

"India has maintained a principled and humanitarian stance on the conflict, which is equally appreciated by both President Putin and President Zelenskyy. In line with this, both the leaders spoke to me to share their perspectives on the developments related to the conflict. I reiterated India's principled and consistent stand and encouraged dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict," the Prime Minister said.

Asked about the role India could play in efforts to end the conflict, Modi had also expressed New Delhi's willingness to support initiatives aimed at finding a peaceful settlement.

"I have already indicated India's willingness to support meaningful efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of the conflict. I believe, by virtue of our good relations with both sides, including key stakeholders, we can strengthen efforts dedicated to the restoration of an early and lasting peace in Ukraine," Modi said.
