Trump taps Kash Patel for FBI: Will this shake up Washington?
US President-elect Donald Trump has named Indian-American and loyalist Kash Patel as the next director of Federal Bureau of Investigation, describing him as an "America first fighter".

"I am proud to announce that Kashyap 'Kash' Patel will serve as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Trump posted on social media platform Truth Social on Saturday night, calling Kash Patel "a brilliant lawyer, investigator" who has spent his career "exposing corruption, defending justice and protecting the American
People".

Trump said FBI under Patel would stop increasing human and drug trafficking across US borders.

Patel gained attention when he expressed serious reservations against the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. Patel authored what came to be known as the 'Nunes Memo'.
