'I will devote myself': Humanoid robot monk Gabi takes Buddhist vows at Seoul's Jogyesa Temple
South Korea has introduced its first humanoid robot monk, named Gabi. The robot monk was introduced at a Buddhist ceremony in Seoul, marking a new intersection of technology and religion. According to reports by The Korea Times, the robot took part in a traditional precept ceremony at Jogye Temple ahead of Buddha’s Birthday celebrations. The 130-centimetre-tall robot, developed on China’s Unitree G1 platform, wore a grey-and-brown Buddhist robe and performed ritual steps alongside monks.
