‘I am still president of Venezuela!’: Maduro and wife plead not guilty in NY court after US capture

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, appeared in a New York federal court and pleaded not guilty to sweeping criminal charges following Maduro’s dramatic capture ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking through an interpreter, Maduro told the court he was innocent and claimed he had been captured at his home in Caracas before being brought to the United States. Judge Alvin Hellerstein warned him that any statements could be used against him.
