'Hungarians love you more than Orban…': Vance's big praise as Trump addresses Hungary rally on call
In a surprise move, President Trump called into a Hungarian rally headlined by Vice President JD Vance in support of the country’s prime minister, Viktor Orban. Trump told the crowd through Vance’s cell phone, “I love Hungary and I love that Viktor.” Trump’s brief statement came hours before his 8 p.m. ET deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. But the president kept the focus on Hungary’s elections next week, vouching for the prime minister, his close ally. Trump said Orban “didn’t allow people to storm your country and invade your country like other people have,” and said he was a “big fan of Viktor—I’m with him all the way. The United States is with him all the way.” Vance traveled to Hungary on Tuesday to show U.S. support for the prime minister ahead of the April 12 elections.
