Humanity will rise above terrorism in world: Rajkeswur Purryag

KAPURTHALA: Mauritius President Rajkeswur Purryag today expressed hope that terrorism will be eradicated from the world and humanity will rise above it.

Talking to media persons at Pushpa Gujral Science city near here, Purryag said "Terrorism is bad and it has no place in the world".

He was replying to a question on the menace of terrorism in the world.

Purryag also praised the state government for providing quality education to underprivileged children in state-run schools and said social and economic progress could not take place without education.

Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India campaign and other development works, he said the PM is passionate and committed to the nation's development.

The Mauritius President said that he saw a vast change in India since his last visit here in 1991, added that the country was progressing in every field, especially education and industrialisation.

Asserting that there was a great tourist potential in India because of its rich cultural heritage and civilisation, he said there is a need for state of art infrastructure to tap the potential.

He said tourism is the pillar of Mauritius' economy. Terming India's relations with Mauritius as historic, Purryag said they are based on emotions, passions and ancient culture. He said his forefathers belonged to Bihar and they had migrated to Mauritius for better future.

The Mauritius President spent more than an hour in the science city and he a took keen interest in seeing the science galleries and other exhibits.

Science City Director General Neelima explained to the President about the various activities there which are helping the Indian students in developing a scientific temperament.
