'Houthis benefit from Iranian support': Yemen leadership blasts Hormuz threat at UN, praises Trump

Yemen’s leadership has taken centre stage at the United Nations, with Vice President Abdullah Al-Alimi Bawazir warning that the Houthis benefit from what he described as 'Iranian support' as well as a lack of an 'effective and decisive international position.' At the same time, Bahrain has led 80 countries in calling for the immediate and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, demanding safe, secure and unimpeded transit for vessels. The remarks come as regional tensions remain high, with Trump also drawing praise from Yemen’s leadership.
