Grenades hurled at Pakistan school

KARACHI: Militants today hurled hand grenades at a school in Pakistan's largest city but no loss of life or property occurred, officials said.

At least six militants on motorbikes targeted a school in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi and escaped.

A police official said that no casualty occurred as none of the students or staff was present at the time of the early morning attack.

Security personnel were deployed in the area and started a manhunt but so far no arrest has been made.

Pakistani Taliban militants attacked an army school in Peshawar on December 16 killing 150 people, mostly children.

Since then, schools are seen as soft targets for terrorists looking to create panic by attacking children.
