"Glad both sides disengaged" White House reacts to India-China clash in Tawang
The US said it is glad to note that India and China quickly disengaged after a clash between soldiers from the two sides in Arunachal Pradesh and emphasised that it is encouraging both sides to utilise existing channels to discuss the boundary issue.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the US is closely monitoring the situation.

"We are glad to hear that both sides appeared to have quickly disengaged from the clashes. We are closely monitoring the situation. We encourage India and China to utilise existing bilateral channels to discuss disputed boundaries. Again, we are glad to see that there has been some disengagement on the clashes at this time," Jean-Pierre said.

While addressing a press conference in the US, Pentagon press secretary Patrick Ryder said the Pentagon fully supports India's efforts to control the situation. "We will continue to remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure the security of our partners. We fully support India's efforts to control the situation," said Ryder. "Department of Defence continues to watch developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the India-China border. We have seen the People's Republic of China continue to amass forces and build military infrastructure along so-called LAC."
