Fire at gold mine kills at least 27 in Peru
Peruvian authorities said at least 27 workers had died in a fire at a gold mine in Yanaquihua in the Arequipa region. The Yanaquihua mining company said 175 other miners had been rescued from the deadly blaze. The husband of Marcelina Aguirre was among the victims. He had previously complained to her about safety conditions at the mining site.
