"We do not have to accept childhoods shaped by algorithms. We do not have to accept a system that fails our children. Europe has the power to act," she said in a post on X.
Von der Leyen called in a speech in May for more protections for children against the "addictive designs" of social media platforms such as TikTok, Meta and X, raising the possibility of an age limit on teens accessing them.
