KYIV: The European Commission said it will summon Russia's envoy to the European Union (EU) over the air attack early Thursday that damaged the bloc's diplomatic compound in Kyiv. Kaja Kallas, the EU top diplomat, said in a post on X on Thursday that she would be summoning Russia's envoy to the 27-nation bloc.

"No diplomatic mission should ever be a target. In response, we are summoning the Russian envoy in Brussels," Kallas wrote.

Also on Thursday, Britain's foreign minister said he had summoned the Russian ambassador to the UK.


"(Russian President Vladimir) Putin's strikes last night killed civilians, destroyed homes and damaged buildings, including the British Council and EU Delegation in Kyiv," DavidLammy said on his social media account on X.

He added: "We have summoned the Russian Ambassador. The killing and destruction must stop."
