Cairo: Egypt banned Roblox Corp's gaming platform, as the Middle East's most populous nation says it's trying to curb children's exposure to potentially harmful online material. The step by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation would see Egypt join several other countries - some in the Arab world - that have blocked or restricted the game. The ban will be coordinated with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

State outlet, Ahram Online, earlier this week indicated it was coming, citing an Egyptian senator calling for regulation of Roblox to "protect children's moral and educational values" and "limit associated psychological and behavioural risks." A Roblox spokesperson said the company had "reached out to the Egyptian authorities with the offer of dialogue to try and resolve this matter and promptly restore access to our platform."
