During a live chat on X on September 16, Farokh Sarmad, co-founder of RugRadio, mentioned, “Barron is ‘not here anymore’ and ‘we took too long.’” Sarmad added, “we're gonna try and get him back,” prompting laughter from Don Jr. Reacting to Barron's absence, Don Jr. said, “Damned teenagers,” and joked that he now feels like the “grumpy old man with a white beard.”
A leaked document acquired by CoinDesk identified Eric and Don Jr. as WLF's “Web3 Ambassadors” and Barron as its “DeFi visionary” (decentralized finance). During a two-hour interview, the Trumps shared key points about their project, saying it would not grant early investors preferential treatment in governance and would include a “stablecoin” tied to the US dollar.
Donald Trump gave credit to his sons, especially Barron, for educating him about cryptocurrency. He called Barron a “blockchain wizard” and said he knows “so much about this.” Trump added, “Barron’s a young guy, but he knows – he talks about his [crypto] wallet, he’s got four wallets or something, and I’ll say ‘what is a wallet?’ But he knows it inside out.”
Trump admitted that the younger generation understands technology better, saying, “But I have a lot of respect for them. They've shown great judgement, all of them.” He emphasized the importance of the United States leading in crypto innovation to stay ahead of other countries, warning that China could take the lead in the cryptocurrency ecosystem if the U.S. does not act.
