Denmark PM says Trump still wants Greenland
Munich: Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Saturday she believes US President Trump still wants control of Greenland, despite recently softening threats to seize the Arctic island by force.

Asked at the Munich Security Conference whether Trump continued to seek ownership of Greenland, Frederiksen said: "Unfortunately, I think the desire is the same."

Trump's interest in the mineral-rich territory - an autonomous region of Denmark - has strained relations between the United States and Europe.

Last month, Trump stepped back from earlier threats after reaching what he described as a "framework" understanding with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, though tensions have persisted.
