US President Donald Trump recognized the influence of the Iran war on Republican performance in the recent midterm elections
US President Donald Trump acknowledged that the Iran war and its impact on fuel prices may have played a role in the Republican Party's performance in the midterm elections, while conceding that Democrats had done a good job. He also indicated that he was open to working with Democrats on immigration, but ruled out major changes to his Cabinet.

Speaking about the election outcome, Trump said, “Democrats did a good job.” He said that voters may not have been prepared to accept the short-term economic consequences of the conflict with Iran, particularly higher gasoline prices.

“People were probably not willing for the short-term consequence of the price of gasoline,” Trump said, referring to the impact of the Iran war on the election results.

Trump also said he could work with Democrats on immigration, signalling a possible area of bipartisan cooperation despite his criticism of the opposition party. However, he warned that he would veto proposals from Democrats that he considered unacceptable.

Trump also said "I will accept the election results.”

“Democrats will send things that are insane and I will veto them,” he said.

On the possibility of changes within his administration following the electoral setback, Trump said he did not expect to make any Cabinet changes.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "I wasn’t on the ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!", distancing himself from the election outcome.

Trump also said he planned to assess the election results and offer his views on the candidates who won and lost.

“I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!” he said.
